In Syracuse
Mar. 19th, 2015 11:14 pmI'm ensconced in my hotel in East Syracuse with another prospective grad student who I've been chatting with for most of an hour. Yay!
I had a very nice, if brief, stop with Danae's parents, who fed me some wonderful casserole made by her mother. And some ice cream too, because ice cream.
Now, time for bed. I've had a long day (it started at about six this morning, 700-plus miles ago), and I have a tasty breakfast and a day of conversation waiting for me tomorrow.
---
Oh, a note from Facebook earlier:
I'm in an Applebee's in Ann Arbor. It's funny being in a sprawly restaurant in a very sprawly off-the-highway area and seeing pictures on the wall of people in a traditional, walkable downtown setting, eating at sidewalk cafes. It's an atmosphere people enjoy and sprawl makes it impossible to have, so they bring it in in these very superficial ways. I think that's telling.
