A Week of Board Games
Jun. 3rd, 2015 11:45 amI'm just not a movie person. I was going to do another hour on the elliptical this morning in front of a movie, but looking through my small collection of movies and my parents' rather large one, nothing really looked interesting. I miss riding my bike.
I was going to play a game of Arkham Horror with my dad yesterday afternoon, but I'd fallen asleep before he arrived and he decided to let me sleep. Which was really nice of him, but I'd rather have gotten up and played a game! But instead he and my mother and I played a game of Dominion, and that was a good time. I'm so glad his vision has improved enough that he can read the cards, at least well enough to get through the game!
By then, Dwarf and brother T had made it home, so I suggested Arkham Horror to them. Amazingly enough, they agreed. That game ended about 3:30 in the morning, at which point we declared that we were likely to win and packed it up for the night. I do think that the game is much more winnable without the extra board expansions that Danae and I kept playing with. And with some altered strategy too. Dwarf became a monster-killing machine as the deputy of Arkham, slaughtering hoards of abominations from the beyond with a gun in each hand; it was pretty impressive.
Today, the same group from Arkham plus housemate A are going to play a game of Twilight Imperium. It's another epic-scale game; I expect it will take us four hours or so. Woohoo!
My brain has been a little muddled lately. I need to get my sleep schedule wrangled into shape again. Hopefully getting up early-ish this morning will help. I have a nice breakfast scheduled with my mother tomorrow morning as a belated Mother's Day outing.
