Friends Getting Married

My dear friend,and overall lovely person, Serinthia​, is marrying her long-time partner today in a ceremony in Illinois. Because we live in the future, I'll be able to be telepresent via Skype.

I met Serin for the first time at a furry softball game. She and her partner Todd were living in North Carolina, but we talked a bit online. When they moved to Kenosha, we started spending more time together in person. Soon, Todd realized that I was not, in fact, an axe-murderer, and we've been playing board games, watching Star Wars cartoons, and generally hanging out semi-regularly ever since. At least, until I moved to New York.

I don't know Todd as well as I know Serin; I just haven't had as much time to get to know him. I know he's a pretty great guy though, and not just because he's Serin's partner. As for Serinthia, she is one of the sweet, kindest, and most thoughtful people I have ever met. Once, when we were were working at the same place together in Illinois, years ago, I was having a particularly difficult day. She spent her whole lunch hour trying to find some Godiva Chocolate ice cream for me to cheer me up, just because I'd said something in passing about how much I wanted some. It turned out that the ice cream had been discontinued and she couldn't find any. It didn't matter, because her expression of care really made my day. I still remember very clearly how cared for I felt.

I'm so happy for both of my friends today. May they have many more years of happiness together.

Dressing Up

I'm getting dressed up for the Skype wedding I'm attending today. I didn't realize until an hour ago that the connection would be two-way, so I'm glad I have something nice to wear! My shirt is a recent thrift store find that I really love; it's blue vertical stripes with black floral embroidery. I wasn't sure about what to do for pants. I have chinos in khaki and blue, and they don't work. Then I remembered the suit I thrifted while out with Erik​ a while back. It fit me decently well at the time, but there's something weird about the way they hang now; baggy in the hips. Ah well; I'll be mostly sitting in front of my webcam anyway.

And there'll be virtual photos of some sort after the ceremony! That's really neat. I don't know if I can manage to stay that long; I have a counseling appointment today too. But I'll at least get to see the ceremony.

Living in the future is so cool.

A Pretty Decent Day, All Told

I saw two good friends get married today. It was the first same legal-sex marriage I've ever been part of and it made me so happy! I got my 4 hours of RA work done today, made myself a pizza, and saw my counselor, not necessarily in that order. It's been raining most of the last two days, so I wore my dollar-store poncho on the bike trip. That thing really catches the wind!

I have the evening to myself. I have school work to do, including a little catch up from failing to get anything done over the break. But I'm also tired. My sleep has been pretty rough for a while. I may just lie down and take a nap. Even though I'm worried about how it will affect tomorrow's schedule, I think I'm too sleepy to be productive and I need to listen to that.

Tomorrow is my first meeting with the folks who are going to evaluate me for meds.
