Lunchtime, and there's a computer open. Cool. So since I haven't written about what I did yesterday...

I bought books on the way home. I haven't made it in to the used bookstore near my house for a few months. I stopped Wednesday and found that, though they were closed, they are open later on Thursdays.

I picked up three books, one of which I may even read soon. I found The Illuminatus Trilogy in one volume by Robert Shea and Robert Wilson. I started reading the first book some time ago, though I never finished it. I remember it being very odd, and somewhat reminiscent of Douglas Adams' stuff.
I found the fourth book in the Otherland series by Tad Williams, which is some really good cyberpunkish stuff that I recommend, even though I honestly haven't gotten through the first book of that one yet either. I am happy to have all four books now anyway, even if the one I just got is a paperback.
Finally, I also found Terry Brooks' Magic Kingdom For sale sold. I believe it's the first in a series about the world of Landover, and it was recommended by a friend some time ago, so when I saw it I grabbed it.
Before I start reading any of those though, I plan to finish Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere, which my wonderful raccoon gave me when she was here last weekend. I've got a decent chunk of it under my belt now, and I recommend that one too.

In other book news, I was poking through a book sitting around the Kenzerco office about marketing and such. Called 'Why We Buy: the Science of Shopping." Or something like that. *shrug* I can't remember for sure. My gut reaction to it was 'Wow. This is really creepy and manipulative.' And I still don't understand why people buy something just because some chart on the wall says it's popular. I begin to understand all the Dilbert jokes about people in marketing...
