Customer: My zip code is incorrect in my entry in the address book.
Me: Can you email me with your correct zip code?
C: xxx
M: (Don't zip codes usually have five numbers?) I can't find your zip code in the directory. Can you tell me where you see it? It must be somewhere I'm not looking.
C: (Sends a screen shot of her entry with the area code circled on her phone number.)
This is the point at which, for the benefit of both of my coworkers, I gave voice to the comment at the beginning of my entry.
M: I have updated your area code. It may take a day or so for the new area code to appear in the address list in Outlook.
C: Thanks!

It's bad enough that she continued to use the incorrect term through several confirmations, but this is an executive admin assistant to some very prominent execs of my company. And she doesn't know, or doesn't care about, the difference between a zip code and an area code.
Weekend update is in the midst of being written. I got Friday covered on the way to work today. More will be forthcoming on the way home. I may even get it posted tonight!
