What's going on these days?

While I log tickets on my primary computer, I'm reformatting my personal hard drive on my secondary computer so I can get it set up for myself again after my file system crash earlier last week. At the same time I have a third laptop sitting to my left that I'm trying to track down a supposed intermittent network jack fault on (I may just put it back into rotation until it happens again 'cause I sure can't find it!). *wigglewiggle* Nope, still good.

I spend yesterday cleaning up the front porch a bit while Posi and Andrea went out to Lowe's to pick up a winking guy plug (you know, the one where the neutral connector is normal but the hot connector is turned 90°) to build an adapter to plug in the UPS that Serin gave him when she dropped me off at his apartment after work yesterday. It's a twin to the one that's running my three servers upstairs at my place.

I moved all of our USPS shipping boxes out to the garage. We have mounds of them from when we were doing so much Ebay shipping a while ago. I'm not sure if we're ever really going to get around to using most of them. Maybe we should just burn them in one of the fires we're going to have this year. I cleared some tech off the porch too. I gave two of the big aluminum cabinets with the mounted touchscreens to Dwarf and a friend. Hopefully they can use them. I stacked up monitors on one side to go the garage sale along with a set of decent three-way (woofer, tweeter, midrange) loudspeakers that have been out there since I get a bigger set from my grandfather a year or two ago. I stacked up all of my little packets of mirrors of to one side too 'till I can figure out where to put them.

I'm going to get a covered oil pan and a tensioner on the way home so that I can (1) fix my truck this weekend, and (2) finally take the oil that's been in the garage for about six months to the dump. I think I'm going to schedule a bulk trash pick up soon as well to get rid of some old furniture that's piled up; metal shelves I hauled out of the basement, my broken Swedish chair that I can't find a caster for and am not sure if I really want anyway, and other such things. I want to organize things in there a bit too so I have more room to work at my forge. Making that hook has reminded of how beautiful a yellow-hot and glowing piece of iron is and how much I want to work with metal again.

I can't remember if I mentioned it, but I'm really enjoying having the TV computer networked now. I downloaded the first few episodes of season three of House earlier this week and the three of us (Andrea, Posi, and I) sat down and watched it on the TV via a mapped drive on my file server. I also have my file sharing program on Midnight mapped to the same drive, so that as an item finishes downloading, it's automatically moved over to Alphawolf's media share. This is cool. I think I need to start archiving some stuff to DVD soon though to keep the drive on Alphawolf from getting full.

I'm still playing with the idea of putting a website together, both for photography and just as a personal presence on the internet. I've been writing up a little piece about prosopagnosia for the last couple days on the way to and from work that might get put there eventually. There were a lot of things out on the internet that were written by other people who are faceblind, and a lot of them really helped me figure myself out back when I was leaving college. Maybe if I contribute to the body of knowledge out there from my own personal perspective, I can do some good too.

I just finished the lovely bleu cheese and alfredo pasta (leftovers from last night's Pasta of Love© feast) so I guess I'll get back to work. It's been quiet enough that I'm actually making headway into the backlog of systems to call in to HP for repair! Whee!
