Sep. 2nd, 2007 09:37 amMy dad,
barton_fender, and I got about two thirds of the backyard done yesterday. I attacked weeds with a set of shears and sawed up the four to five inch diameter tree limb that broke in a storm last year and fell into our yard while he used his shovel to dig up the root bundles that I'd left behind after cutting down a few small (four to eight foot) trees that had popped up. To be honest, it was just as much help simply having somebody out there with me to motivate as it was to have him assisting. The two of us also finally overturned the 12' pool and let it drain down the driveway. After it dries for a while, I'm going to spray it down with a bleach mixture and pack it up for the season.
Posi and Tybis got up to the house in the afternoon and we went out to look for a weed whacker to finish the rest, but never made it to Lowe's. Instead, we got distracted by a Goodwill, after which I realized I didn't have my wallet with me so we went home. We picked up
wooisme who'd been working on the kitchen and went out for dinner.
Afterward, my mate and I spent a very nice evening at home by ourselves. We didn't actually make it to the reading to her that I was going to it, but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves nonetheless.
I was going to continue on the yard this morning, but dealing with the blood sucking insects is reminiscent of my days spent on the C-64 playing Expedition Amazon, except in this case, while I can't get malaria, I do actually have to deal wit the things in real life. All the work yesterday must have riled them up. Instead, I'm going to work on the front porch for a while and come back to the yard later on.
