Sep. 13th, 2007 05:23 pmAs I noted, I can't make the D20 (I keep wanting to write D&D, but it's not) game on Friday because we're moving furniture on Saturday morning.
We were discussing this today and had briefly decided to reschedule for a week out from Saturday. However, shortly after making the descision, we found out that we have a client touring our data center on Friday. Because our datacenter is accessed through the room that the help desk staff is in, they'll be coming through our room. Therefore, we have to get things cleaned up before then.
Ours is not a pristine room; it's a working environment where we have stacks of laptops on shelves, boxes in front of desks stacked eight feet tall, and random desktops, monitors, papers, and who knows what else lying around. Yes, we atually work here.
Apparently our visiting VIPs are not familiar with that concept 'cause our VP wants our room looking, and I quote, "as good as possible" for the inspection. This was passed down to us today by our manager, who strongly suggested we do the furniture rearrangement this weekend so we can use next week to get ready for the visit.
Now, considering that next week our manager will be off on vacation, our Chicago tech will be int the same state, and our team lead will spend three days in Chicago to make up for that tech not being there, we're going to have to get the room in order while down two people and still keep up with our daily work flow.
I know my morale is high.
posicat and
tybis are coming by for food and miscellaneous activities tonight. That should be fun.
And I finally got that tablet shipped today!
