Since my request to my readers for places to go visit and stay worked out so well, why not try it again for something else? I need to learn to drive a manual transmission car. Not for any immediately pressing reason, but I want the option to buy something with a stick-shift next time I need a replacement car. I want one anyway, since you can drive them more carefully and tweak performance vs. gas mileage. Do any of my readers have access to a stick-shift car and the inclination to teach a dog to drive it? I'd buy you dinner or something. I suppose another thing I could do would be to rent a car with a manual gearbox and teach myself. I'd probably have to bring my mom or someone who knows how to drive it to get it out of the lot though....
Secondly, I want to make a trade. I have a Fender Standard Stratocaster. It was one of the first things I bought when I got my first job working at the homeless shelter in Kenosha. It's a Mexican made Fender from about 2000, according to the serial number. From what I can find on the net, it's probably worth about $350 or so. It's in really pristine shape, with no scratches or any kind of cosmetic damage. I bought it new and it's basically lived in its softcase. I've almost never used it; I preferred the sound of my classical acoustic, even when my wrist was letting me play.
I put it on Craig's List a while ago, but didn't get anyone interested in paying what it's worth. I could put it on Ebay, but the shipping would kind of be a hassle. It occurred to me earlier this week that maybe I could trade it. I'd kind of like to trade it for either an Xbox 360, or a PS3. A new generation console that I can play Rock Band on. I can get Rock Band for the PS3 really cheap because I've already got the instruments; I'd just need a disc. And that would be something I'd use a lot more and have more fun with than the guitar.
I might put the offer on Craig's List too so a wider audience sees it, but if any of you are interested, let me know.
