Dec. 5th, 2009 01:16 pmFantastic. They're talking about Nick Drake on NPR today.
Nick Drake takes my breath away every time I hear his music. It's something really special.
Speaking of music, I just got back home with a microphone stand for my theremin. Now I have to get my amp back from my dad (he was using both items in one of his productions) and I can try playing some more.
I also bought an address book from Office Max. For years, I've intended to collect all sorts of name, address, and phone number information in the address book of one email client or other, and somehow things get scattered and lost and go away as I change and rebuild systems, or access email in different places. It feels very good, solid, even nostalgic, to write these things down in a physical book.
Speaking of nostalgic, this '40s record changer is for sale at the local Goodwill right now for $25. It's missing its control knobs, but other than that it looks like it just came off the shelf at a vintage department store. It's immaculate. Even the soft felt on the turntable looks new. I may go back and buy it. I could play my 78s on it maybe. Assuming the tubes are still good; its integral amplifier is a vacuum tube model. Maybe I'll bring a record over there and try it out.
Well, back to cleaning, writing cards and emails, and general domestic house-dog stuff.
