I feel like I should be using my time on the train to write something substantial, or to do some reading. But I didn't think to bring a book, and I'm not quite in the right frame of mind of writing a story. At least, a fictional one. So instead I'll write about New Year's weekend before it slips out of my mind.

On Wednesday, Moira and I went over to my parents' house for the usual Wednesday night dinner. No-LJ-James and Lara were in from Lansing and joined us, which was great. I miss them.

Afterward, a few of us settled in front of a TV to watch the Rifftrax version of Twilight. I was watching mainly because Moira wanted to see it, and it just couldn't hold my interest all the way through, even with commentary. I gave up at the baseball scene. Moira did the same a little further in and headed home while I played some Master of Orion with folks.

Thursday, New Year's Eve, I did a little bit of organizing the house during the day, then went over to my parents' again in the early evening. I got to see several people I don't see much; Evil Bob, [livejournal.com profile] foreignlegion, and Dwarf. There was just a mountain of awesome snacky bits and I played three games of my Christmas present, Cutthroat Caverns, with various people. It's a blast.

[livejournal.com profile] mocha_mephooki was over for a while too, and I was very happy he got to be part of the group, which we later described as a kind of mini-con. Gamers of ages from teens to fifties, an overlapping mixture of family and friends and positive energy. I wonder if there's a way to do that more often.

I finally left to go home around four in the morning, after napping on the futon for a while as Dwarf and others played Star Wars Battlefront on the Xbox he'd brought. Mocha and Andrea had left earlier in the night and were already home.

Friday morning, Moira made an awesome breakfest with eggs and feta cheese and stuff for the three of us as we lazed around the house. I played some Final Fantasy 9 as Mocha and I chatted. There was talk about going to see a movie, but instead, we all drove on a lark to Gurnee Mills for lingerie shopping at the after Christmas sales. *bounces* I think it was the most time any of us had spent at a mall in months. Unfortunately, we got there too late to see the fish at the Bass Pro Shop. Next time!

Mocha left for home once we got back. I don't really remember what else I did. Played more video games maybe. Practiced the keyboard some more. And that kind of covers Saturday too. There was lovely time spent with Moira mixed in there too. It was a quiet sort of day.

That's good, as I was stressing more and more over money and not being able to find my camera. I'm not usually prone to lots of stress and worry, but I was anxious enough to cause the chest tightness and pain I get sometimes. I'm kind of at an ok place with it now I suppose, though I'm still a bit frustrated.

It helped to spend a few hours going through clothes and trimming my closet down yesterday. With just a little help from Moira, I ended up with two large garbage bags full of clothes to donate to the local Goodwill. I also have drawers and a closet that I can easily find things in. It was a joy getting dressed this morning. Silly little things make me happy.

And the best thing about yesterday was that Moira made me a special dinner at my request. A home-made pepperoni, black olive, bleu cheese, garlic pizza. I can't remember the last time I ate something so delicious! Thank you, dear one. I appreciate you so much.

I'm kind of scared about being back at work again. It can be an overwhelming place. Moira sent me a link to a job posting as kind of a joke; they wanted someone who is familiar with routers and Cat5 cable and isn't afraid of heights. Tower maintenance experience a plus. I am so very very tempted by this. I'd just love to be outside everyday climbing towers and installing hardware. Love!

I'm sure some day I'll find something better than I have now.... I know it's a better situation than my friends who don't have jobs at all, and I'm trying not to be ungrateful.
