I spent a good number of hours today sorting through my old computer stuff. I unpiled the stack of stuff against my south wall, dug out the three boxes full of tangled wires, expansion cards, motherboards, and mice, and began organizing. I now have a box of cables meant for the inside of a computer, a box of outside cables, all tidily coiled and twist-tied, a little box of old ram, a box full of things like Sound Blaster 16's and old internal modems, and 3 functional mice. I actually found 7(!) mice in there, but two didn't work and I haven't tested the serial mice yet. Also have a stack of about 10 hard drives I need to mount to a test system and make sure I have all the data off of before I pack them away somewhere, probably the basement. Unless anyone needs a bunch of anywhere from 60MB to almost 800MB hard drives...

Went through all the books on the shelves near my bed. I have so many that they're stacked double depth and I wanted to go through and figure out what all I had as well as clean the non-book debris from the shelves. I have a stack of things that belong to my parents that they're going to look through tomorrow, and the rest of my stuff is, if not neatly ordered and alphabetized, at least in more orderly stacks. I also discovred that I seem to have three copies of Madelein L'Engle's A Swiftly Tilting Planet, among other things. I think that, for some reason, I keep thinking I don't have that one. On the other paw, I am missing A Wind in the Door, so I'll have to keep an eye out.

I also went out to a drain today. Wormhole, to be specific. That link goes to my (really) old webpage about it. I got further than I have before, but I turned back when I got to a place where the water level was up by my knees. I had neglected to bring my hip waders, since I thought it got shallower again sooner than that. *shrug* I still think it would be interesting to see the end of the passage. Maybe I'll get back to it again if the weather stays clear.

Andrea called a little while ago and talked with me. It feels so nice to be talking to her, and I feel so down at the end of the conversation when I hang up and the fact that she's so far away comes back to the front of my mind. *sigh* Still, our conversations are the highlights of my days, and always leave me feeling content and loved...

Well, off to find a book and get to bed. (Hmm. I really have to get around to moving my futon back upstairs, don't I?)
