I found an idea online for getting a stuck wheel off the hub. I jacked the Swift up and set the offending corner on a jackstand. I got two lengths of 4x4 post and put one end of each against one of the rear wheels so they nearly meet in the middle. I put a 2x4 flat between the post and the stuck wheel to distribute force. I put a scissor jack between the two posts and began expanding it, bracing against the wheel that's still on the ground.

I have expanded it significantly, and it's not coming off. I used the sledgehammer on the inside of the rim while the jack was applying pressure to the wheel and no luck. I'm really floored at how stuck this is; it's like a solid piece of metal. I may put more pressure on it later, but I'm a little bit worried about exploding the tire. I have no sense of how much force I can safely apply this way. I may actually have to take this thing to a shop just to get the wheel off.

I sprayed more PB Blaster on the inside of the rim and I'm letting it sit there under pressure for a while.

I'm very much looking forward to a trip to Sweet Tomatoes for date night with [livejournal.com profile] moiracoon. *woofs*
