farm_cat discovered that there is a computer hardware pickup day happening at a local library on Saturday in collaboration with Earth Day. This pleases me.
I've gotten rid of most of my old hardware from my house. But I have a great deal of computer stuff still at my parents' house. I'm pretty sure that's where things like my 286 portable, and my IBM XT, among lots, lots else, are hiding. After work today, I'm going to go over there and start getting it all together. This week will see another computer catharsis for Stormdog. I don't need this stuff anymore!
When I was living there, I stashed stuff away in the old coal room in the basement (the room that the coal chute emptied into from the driveway), and behind the wall panelling in the triangular second floor. There is several feet of oddly shaped space along the north and south sides of the whole upper floor of the house, and right now it's got piles of hardware I haven't seen in well onto ten years. I think I may take a picture of it all when I dig it all out and before it goes to the recycler. I kind of wish I could get everything I've purged in the last year or two into a pile. It would be pretty impressive.
--------------
I was going to walk over to the huge Salvation Army store at lunch, but I've been in all day working on a computer with a virus. I've finally started copying files to the replacement hard drive ('cause it seems the hard drive is going bad too), so I'm going to go heat up one of
moiracoon's hamburgers. She made them last night and they are excellent!
*Oooh! There were leftover sandwhich fixin's in the lunch room! I get to have that burger tonight when I get home!
--------------
Moira is reserving a truck for this coming Saturday. I'm so looking forward to being done with this move!
