I was so exhausted when I got back home on Sunday night. It was about 11:00, I had to get up early in the morning to bike to school, and I hadn't quite managed enough sleep on any given night over the weekend. And today, I'm back to projects.
I'm planning to write up the weekend adventure soon, before the details go away. But tonight, now that I've done a little more correspondence with grad programs, read through and annotated a PDF for my farmers market project, eaten, and taken a shower, I'm going to get to bed. Tomorrow I work late at the archives, and its my day to clean the kitchen, and I really need to work on a draft for the paper due the 8th, so there probably won't be a lot of time there either.
On the plus side, Juan came by today to finish up with my car and tells me that, though some work remains (still need to do the driver's side and get an alignment), the car is drivable. This is good, since I bent the back wheel of my bike again today on the lovely Kenosha streets, and I had to disconnect my back brake to ride home.
The bike frustration added to a day of odd moments of melancholy. My brother has a friend whose father is not likely to live very long. My dear friend Ceilidh has a very sick dog. And, silly but still adding to the mood, one of the most common references to the land owners I'm looking for info on is their obituaries. Meh. My day has largely been a very happy one as I thought of all the fun stuff I did with Posi this weekend and how great a time I had, but there were occasional moments of feeling slightly melancholic and nostalgic. In fact, part of that probably even started with a few tangential memories that came up Sunday night on the way back home.
Anyway, I called and talked with Danae a bit and told her about my weekend. That made me happy! I hope I can squeeze in a call to Lisa tomorrow evening too and catch up with her.
And with that, before I trundle off to bed, I thought I'd do a few shots of wild turkey. (See what I did there?)
I'll try and catch up with y'all here soon.
