Last week I lost the nice thick flannel I'd been biking in this season. I was kind of sad about that because it had been just about right for temperatures so far this year.
Today, Lisa and I dropped into a thrift store and I found this jacket to replace it. It is, in fact, exactly the kind of thing I'd been hoping to find at a thrift store for cold weather biking, but didn't think I would.
It's a ski jacket, so it's wind and waterproof, has zippers at the armpits for heat management, velcro wrist cuffs and drawstring snow-skirt at the waist to manage wind, and a nice high collar too.
It's a size M, and just a *little* bit small on me, but I think it's going to be *just* what I need to replace that flannel. And it cost me all of six dollars. It's not totally high end; it doesn't have taped seams, Gore-tex, or Thinsulate. But it's damn nice. I think it will do just fine down to temperatures where I'll need to start using my winter coat.
And it's got pink! I kind of like that.
