I love this article about gender as dynamic process rather than as static state (in the context of the second Hunger Games movie) so much! (Disclaimer: I have not seen or read the second part of The Hunger Games.)
In this piece, the author is expressing thoughts very similar to my own. Gender being something you *do* rather than something you *are* means that you can assert a claim to masculine or feminine characteristics in different ways at different times.
In my own relationships, I absolutely 'do' gender in different ways with my different partners. Having the freedom to express myself as I choose rather than being restricted to expected roles and behaviors is empowering and fulfilling. Why should we have to choose one way to be (or one person to love) for the rest of our lives?
