Naked Lunch
Aug. 29th, 2014 04:54 pmI bought a bag full of books at a local library book sale, including some nifty history stuff and a passel of Heinlein paperbacks. This has also motivated me to do a little cleaning of my shelves and boxing of books.
One thing going into a box is a copy of William Burroughs' "Naked Lunch". I saw it at a used book store and all I knew about it was that it was the subject of major censorship debate and had deep social meaning.
It's been a long time since I tried to read it. Maybe I'll try it again sometime; I think I'd have a much better shot at it now. But I don't see myself likely to try in the near future. It's not exactly leisure reading. And if I did have time for leisure reading, there'd be a bunch of stuff in front of it in line.
