Erik and I had a pretty successful trip up Pike Creek west of the golf course today! We didn't make it all the way through the first drain, and thus did not see the other portions I was hoping to explore. Erik's boots were not as waterproof as my knee waders and we decided it would be better to get his increasingly wet feet somewhere warm and dry.
Other than that though, this was a really easy drain to get into, and it had some interesting twists, turns, and junctions. I'm planning to come back at some point and see more of it, as well as the other portions, so let me know if you want to come with!

Here, a couple of side pipes merge with the primary channel. There was enough water flow, with the Spring melt happening, that talking was very difficult over the sound of the waterfall.

I had a sort of epiphany at one point, as I looked down at the rushing water splashing against my boots. Sure, I was in a completely human-constructed channel; but I was really standing in the middle of Pike Creek.

Here's a similar shot of the water over my boots that Erik took with his flash on. It was really moving. And cold! The floor was slippery enough that I was slightly concerned about falling in and being soaked in near-freezing water.

Me, with a goofy smile on my face, probably standing under somebody's house in central Kenosha.
Thanks again for the photos of me, Erik!
That was fun! I need to do that again soon!
