Sushi and Shopping with Restoman!

stormdogI just had a spinach and mushroom salad for dinner. Like a grown-up. Actually, it was really good with a little of the yogurt blue cheese dressing I just bought.

restoman, who was kind enough to take me along on a shipping trip. I went a little overboard perhaps since I wasn't going to have to bike this stuff all back home, but I have food for a good while now! It was nice seeing Restoman again too; he and I got together yesterday when I wanted to try out the all-you-can-eat conveyor belt sushi in downtown Syracuse. That was a fun experience! The selection wasn't the broadest, but I loved watching plates full of various kinds of rice-wrapped seafood processing stately past while I kidnapped the occasional dish of shrimp tempura or unagi from their midst. The interior is interesting too. It's a long narrow space with the sushi chefs on one side of the conveyor and a row of customer seating on the other. The white ceiling arches in on each side making an upside-down half-pipe. Restoman said it felt a bit like being inside of a fish. The hosts are insistent on people sitting close in and not leaving gaps, which makes sense given the size of the space. Restoman has not had much experience with sushi, so introducing him was a good time! I'm really not the best guide, though. I can't tell the fish apart very well, and a lot of times I could only guess at what something was. But I can point out what I'm probably going to like and why, so that's something!
It was beautiful weather out there too, for both the shopping trip and the sushi. Especially downtown, I would have been tempted to spend some time sight-seeing and people watching if I hadn't had more work to do. I'd like to get to know downtown Syracuse a bit better. Some day, when I have time.
Speaking of work, I've been productive today! I saw a doctor for the first time on my new insurance. I got my wrist x-rayed to see what's up with the chronic injury, and I got a flu shot. I don't think I've ever had one before, but it seemed like a good idea. I had an enjoyable interview with a fellow grad student for an assignment for one of my classes. I've gotten most of the four hours of work I need to do for my RAship done. I even got a bit of class reading done while I was on campus between events.
