A thing I ordered on Amazon failed to arrive. It's about a week late and the tracking info link says that packages are almost never this late, they're sorry, and I can click this button to request a refund. When I click the button, it says I'll hear back soon. Shortly thereafter, I get an email saying they can't create a refund and to contact customer service. After doing that twice, I have now contacted customer service. I wait with bated breath for the next development.

From Amazon, in part:
"I've checked the details of the order and see that the package is delayed. I understand that you want us to issue a refund. However, there are certain ongoing issues due to which I am unable to issue a refund currently.
Hence, I'm following up with this order and will issue a refund once the problem is sorted.
I will send another email confirming the refund details.
Your patience and understanding is much appreciated."
They can appreciate my patience. It would be hard for them to appreciate my non-existent quantity of understanding after that email. "...certain ongoing issues..." Sure.
