I would love for there to be at least an option of environmental consequences! There was a person who was working on a mod that added all sorts of industrial byproducts that you'd have to deal with, but he didn't end up finishing it as far as I can tell.
The only effect that "pollution" has is it speeds up the rate at which the aliens become stronger and attack your factory. And I play on peaceful mode anyway because I don't care about fighting and stuff, I just want to build!
