stormdogI took tomorrow off to attend Dana's dissertation defense. It hadn't even occurred to me that it might not be public since I saw notices for several at Syracuse that were open-attendance. Danae's advisor, however, does not want people other than the committee there. I can at least be around to congratulate her afterward.
I'm still having enough jaw pain to be concerned about complications. It doesn't look like a dry socket though, so maybe I just need to wait a little longer. I was feeling up to biking today, and I'm hoping the exercise-induced blood flow will help the healing too. There's some evidence for exercise being beneficial for wound healing, and I've been pretty sedentary the last few days.
I bought a Spirograph set at a thrift store for $3 and was playing with it last night. It's fun! I should have taken a picture of the designs I made. I found a video about deriving equations to describe Spirograph patterns too. It's a little bit beyond me, but only because I don't have much trig knowledge yet.
