Erik and I went to the Sycamore Steam Show and Threshing Bee this past weekend. Because I am me, I left both my cameras at Erik's place, but I did get a few pictures edited and posted to Google Drive. There are two more behind the cut, and once I get to my pictures, I'll get some more edited and posted.

There were a number of Minneapolis Traction Engines of this vintage there, but this one in particular, with in it's bright coat of gleaming primary colors, stood out.





These flywheels and gears were on the side of a hit-and-miss gasoline engine. I love all the exposed moving parts on antique machinery.

One of the two firebox doors on a very large boiler that was supplying steam to a number of pieces of equipment in and around a building at the fair. I love the texture of the boiler wall with its streaks of gray and black.

I think growing up in the same town that Aveling steam engines came from might have something to do with my love of this stuff!

That's a name I don't know here in the states. Is there a museum or anything related to Aveling there? It seems like there isn't a lot of preservation of industrial stuff on its own merits in the US; just as parts of collections in transportation museums or what-not.
