Yeah, my hair has not been recently brushed or combed in that picture, has it?

My hair has just enough of a curl to make it often look kind of unkempt. It's slightly annoying.

I'm scared about doing things like straightening because I worry about it getting damaged and prone to breaking or splitting. Have you found that to be an issue at all?

With good quality straighteners, you get heat adjustment and there are also products you can brush through before applying heat- heat protector sprays- the one I use comes from my Avon rep.

That's actually my dad's, since he's visiting right now. I don't drink a lot of soda myself, and when I do it's generic 'cause I'm cheap. :)
