Bits and bobs in no particular order.
I bought a purse at the thrift store that's an almost perfect color match for my wallet.
I'd been frustrated about working on the insurance spreadsheet with only one monitor. Then Miriam asked how many displays the integrated graphics support. I had just assumed it was just one, because I don't expect any extras from integrated graphics. But it will support up to three (though the motherboard only has two video jacks).
I looked for decent monitors at the thrift stores yesterday, but there is a current dearth of anything with a DVI port. But I'd seen some monitors at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, so we went there today to look. For $10 I got the only one out of a dozen or two with a DVI jack, and coincidentally, it's nearly the same monitor as the one I got from the Value Village for $20 a while back. I have two 19" Thinkvisions now, one IBM branded and one Lenovo. If you don't look too hard, it looks like I bought two matching monitors from the same retailer at the same time, like a real grown-up or something.
I'm not actually sure how many monitors I had in the condo before the fire: I think it was six or seven, not counting Miriam's. I'm only going to list one of mine on the insurance claim because we bought it new after moving to SK. The others were random old tech from thrift stores (and one Kijiji freebie) that I'll just end up replacing on my own with things like these. I think it's quite possible that out of all the years I've been using computers with two, three, or more monitors attached to them, I've never actually had matching ones.
I see Thinkvision monitors at thrift stores (and the ReStore) all the time here. Maybe some local business bought them in huge numbers once upon a time?
Miriam went with me to my consult for laser hair removal today because it helped me feel safe. The consult was great, and I really felt safe and accepted there. I've booked my first treatment for next week, and I'm going to go on my own. I signed up for everything under Meghan and it gave me real joy when the technician called me that!
Since I felt safe there, I'm also getting my eyebrows shaped there next week. Miriam is going to come with for that because I really have no clue about what I want and could use advice and input.
The wind is relentless and strong lately! It almost knocked Ella over when she was squatting to poop yesterday, and she seems a bit concerned by it sometimes.
Behind the cut:
my not-quite-twin monitors and my matching purse and wallet!

Date: 2022-10-13 01:07 am (UTC)And thanks! I like it too. I've never had one without a shoulder strap before (really, I've only ever used messenger bag-style ones), but I took it with today and liked it.
It's really nice to have a purse because up until yesterday I'd been carrying my stuff around in a hand-me-down plastic bag with text about University of Regina corporate training all over it. Every time I went into the Costco, the door staff asked if it was a return. I guess at least if you wanted to know about corporate training, I was your gal, but that opportunity has passed!

Date: 2022-10-14 06:17 am (UTC)I can't help but post this picture of the back of the my computer desk when I was living at my parents' place in...(looks at the date on the photo)...2002. But even back then I had two monitors (CRTs!) and a bunch of audio gear.
My self-image, and most of my spare time, was pretty tied to amassing interesting tech to play with, since I basically had no friends. :) I set the desk back from the wall so I could easily go behind it for cable management. It kind of felt like having a little server room!

Date: 2022-10-14 06:19 am (UTC)I always loved unicorns and pegasi since I was little, and kind of wanted them on my school folders and notebooks, though I didn't because I didn't want to be made fun of even more. One of many clues about my gender that I ignored for way too long!
