I've been rereading Sheep Princess in Wolf's Clothing for the 3rd or 4th time, but this time I'm looking at it in a much larger format than my phone screen and I'm seeing a bunch of stuff I missed before: I'm seeing some of these things in a whole new light.
The best new thing I noticed though - the very best - is a scene most of the way through the series. Some time before that, Aki (a Wolfa, or wolf-person) tells Momo that one of the ways Wolfas express love is something she can't show her in public. Much later, when they are not in public, Aki demonstrates this Wolfa expression of love by kissing Momo's neck.
"This is the Wolfa expression of love, " she says. "Have I conveyed my feelings? 𝐈 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐥 𝐈 𝐝𝐨!"
"Do it! Show me!" Momo says.
"Alright then," says Aki, who spends a couple of panels leaning in and kissing her neck.
At least, I thought she was kissing Momo's neck. With details more visible, I can see that there is a very noticeable mark on Momo's neck when Aki asks if she's conveyed her feelings.
A light bulb came on! The Wolfa expression of love is biting! Of course it is! I'm very grateful that Miriam actually thinks it's cute when I'm making little squee noises over manga, because I was doing so much of it!
A few panels later, we see Momo walking through a castle hallway, accompanied by her maid Brubel. Aki and Momo exchange a meaningful look, and then we see that Momo is wearing a gingham dress and matching accessories, including 𝒂 𝒃𝒊𝒈 𝒔𝒄𝒂𝒓𝒇 𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒅 𝒂𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅 𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒏𝒆𝒄𝒌 𝒊𝒏 𝒂 𝒃𝒐𝒘 so her neck isn't visible. OH! NOW I GET IT!
More squeeing on my part ensued.
