Feb. 9th, 2003 11:20 amThe play's done! Yay! Though I will kinda miss seeing some of the cast, I never did get to know any of them terribly well. That usually takes me longer than most people I think. I can start growing my goatee back today, which pleases me to no end. The end of a play is always kind of powerful. It's another reminder that nearly all cycles have an end as well as a beginning. Seeing a bare stage that just a few hours ago held a fully built set that we worked with for a month and a half has a touch of awe. One cycle is over, but the theatre is now back to its , if you will, Platonic ideal, the generic open state that contains all possibilities and none at the same time, ready for whatever is chosen to occupy it next. A theatre building is so full of promise. Take care my grand old lady, and be well until next we work together.
After the show last night I was reminded that I had offered to stay overnight at the theatre with two of the cast members so we could have a sort of impromptu ghost hunt. The woman who played the assistant nurse is rather into that and there are some stories about ghosts at the Rhode. (I'll tell you sometime...) I wasn't keenly interested in the idea, but I didn't mind too much either. After everyone had left the closing night party held at the theatre the group of us (it was myself, the two cast members, the stage manager, and my brother and his girlriend who decided to hang out for a while) wandered around for a while and chatted. We didn't see anything particularly unearthly, not that I really expected to, but it wasn't a bad time. I did see some inexplicable behavior out of the old (and by old I mean really old) light board backstage. It's a colossal electromechanical thing from 1927, a real marvel. I've played around with it a little bit and it doesn't really do much. Last night, I looked at it and there was a light on. I went over and moved a few switches and more lights came on. It was really odd. I wonder if there's an old timer of some sort in there. I've never been at the theatre at so late an hour before so that could be it. In any case I managed to turn them all off. I've never seen lights on on the board before.
It's nice to be home. I still have to go pick up some stuff (like DDR and the PS2 that we had at the cast party last night) but once I get home again I can check my mail and get on IM. I haven't used my computer for over a day. I've got withdrawal! *g*
Oh, almost forgot. Went out with my brother Jim and his girlfriend (who are actually a lot of fun to be with, depite their cuddling reminding me that I don't have anybody around to cuddle, heh......) yesterday, and bought clothes. Jim always looks good, so I told him he has to be my fashion consultant ^_^ . On his advice, I got a couple of long sleeved shirts, which I was surprised to find I really like. Cool! I haven't worn a long sleeved shirt in years. And, I finally have pants that fit me, which makes me happy! While we were out we stopped at a pet supply store 'cause I like to see all the animals (people are allowed to bring their dogs and cats into the store) and we looked around a bit. We saw a dog who looked so much like my parents old dog. It made me realize how much I miss having a big dog like that. It's a lot. I miss Paches. Heh, ups and downs, ups and downs. In general though, I'm doing pretty well.
