Sep. 15th, 2003 02:53 amNight driving on the interstate has a strange quiet and peace. The drive home tonight was almost meditative at times. On the other hand, maybe I'm just that tired. *sigh* Tired and sore. I didn't stretch out before the softball game. I didn't use to need to do that. Now I can't even lift my foot up onto the stool in front of my desk without a helping hand. Maybe I'm getting old. Older, anyway.
We had a great big crew for softball who I really had a good time with, though I wish I'd been able to talk to more of them. I met a number of new people, as did my mother who came along. In fact, I got the impression that
innerwolf might have half convinced her to get in on the graymuzzle track at MFF this year. *smile* I'm too tired to remember who all was at the game I think, but I want to thank everybody for the fun time I had.
I had the pleasure of getting to know
quasiskunk,
ramalion (wow, does everybody have one of these things?), and one other fur whose name the tired doggy can't drag out of his brain. Was it an Ian? There were a lot of Ian's there tonight... *scratches his head with a forepaw* The three of them came down to Chicago to help
boixboi move. Anyway, it was good to get to know you all. Say hi to
tygercowbow for me! *waves at tyger*
After the move was done and the celebratory dinner eaten, the St. Lous furs headed back home while Benjie, his friend Jeremy, and
kittyladand Synicism who managed to come by, and I all retreated to Syn's apartment where we played a game of Captain Park's Imaginary Polar Expedition. I watched a bit of the game but spent a while talking to my dear one who called around then. I laid down on the floor of the closet to talk to her, thereby making myself just about the only person in the apartment who was in the closet. *badoomp ching*
*glances back at the entry* Wow I must be tired. I usually only say jokes that bad out loud...
As we said goodbyes, I realized how much I'm going to miss Syn. I suspect that next time I have to say goodbye to him I'm going to develop a pronounced leak from the eyes. When I met him, not long after I met
daveqat, the whole 'having friends' thing was pretty new to me. He's made me feel so beautifully welcome and at home. I will always remember the times I've driven down to visit Syn, rented a movie, and curled up on the couch in front of the T.V. with him. I never wanted to fall asleep for fear of losing a single moment of the experience. I am indebted beyond measure to all my furry friends, particularly to Dave, Syn, Benjie, and Lander; those who first showed me that I too could have friends.
I don't want to lose a single moment of being with my star either. It's really amazing how much I miss her. Only two and a half weeks now 'till the move. I have a feeling
wooisme and I are are going to be in the area with some frequency though. We're both going to have a lot of people here to miss...
