I was going to post about the decent hopefully steady job I have and how relieved and happy I was to find it. As it turns out, it's not so good as it first appeared. I knew I was going to be working midnights for the first few weeks until my training was done, but I was informed today that it requires some weekend work. Nobody mentioned anything about that until I had accepted the job. I told the Kelly people that I'll need certain weekends off (i.e. Windycon, MFF, and Thanksgiving) and they are talking to the company right now about it while I wait for them to call me back. Even should that be ok, I still feel a little nervous about working weekends, even if it's not all the weekends. *sigh* The Kelly people also said that, should I decline a job I've already accepted, they might be hesitant about providing assignments in the future. That plus the fact that I've been so worried about finding a job and my having been so excited about this one puts me in a tough spot. I feel a little bit as though I've been bullied into this. I guess I'll figure out just what I'm doing when I get that call back...

Got the call back from Kelly Services. Seems that the weekend situation isn't going to be workable, but Kelly (the woman I've been talking to about it, not the company. Heh.), when I aplogized about the weekend problem, just said 'You know what? Don't worry about it.". In fact, they just got another order in for a material handler. She's e-mailed the company to ask about whether weekend work will be required and is going to give me more information Monday. In the meantime, I'll see if I can keep working for Visteon 'till Wednesday, as Terry said ther'd be work 'till then. I feel a little bad about giving up the other job, but at the same time I'm proud of myself for having actually called them back to try to deal with the situation. I'm a little surprised I had the courage to try to deal with all that over the phone. But I did, and I feel really good about that.

*Storm wipes droplets of sweat from his brow* Hmm. I can tell I've been stressed 'cause I just caught myself picking at my lip. I tend to do that when I'm stressed, I've noticed. Bad doggy, stop it.

Other things happening today: I bought A+ Certification for Dummies (it was the cheapest A+ book there) at B. Dalton today. My plan was, and continues to be, to keep working what I can find while I accumulate money and earn certifications at which point I will try to find an IT job. I was more confident about that while I thought I had a steady job coming up, but I still think it's going to work out. Most importantly to me, I would like to ask for all of my friends and readers to send good vibes to my beloved, who is looking for another job herself as she puts up with the daily shit of a control freak boss who seems to have played hooky from his anger management classes.

I got a bank account opened at Andrea's credit union a few days ago and I have a driver's license and debit card (wow, I'm going to have a debit card. I'm a big boy now. *grin*) in the mail. I feel like I got at least a little bit accomplished this week, and my raccoon and I have a furry Howloween party to go to tonight. It will be good to meet more of the local furs. It'll be a nice time to relax, for both of us.
