Mar. 9th, 2004 09:06 pmI should have written this yesterday, but yesterday evening was fairly busy, not least because it was the one year anniversary of my having met
wooisme. We celebrated by going out for Mongolian Barbeque at BD's (for which we still had a gift certificate) and having the big brownie desert. Yummy! The rest of the evening was really nice too.
Now, the weekend. Firstly, for those who were not aware of the even that was going to happen at Congenial this year, my belved and I are officially betrothed. That wasn't a surprise to most of you; it wasnt' to her, anyway. What it was is entirely wonderful. In the consuite Saturday night, friends and family gathered about (my parents were able to make it up just long enough for the asking of the question), I asked my raccoon to be mine forever. Then, of course, I entirely forgot to present the ring I had in my pocket to her. My dad, I'm told, in my parent's wedding ceremony, put out the wrong hand to recieve the ring. Heh. Now I guess I have my own ring mishap story to tell. Andrea, of course, was entirely unfazed and simply waited 'till we had a few moments to ask 'did you forget something?'. Shortly thereafter, Uncle Vlad took me aside to tell me that Andrea is a really good person, that he's happy for us, and that he knew that he didn't have to tell me that if I hurt her he'll track me down and kill me. I like him more and more as I get to know him a little better. I will never object to someone looking out for and protecting my beloved...
Saturday proper was spent travelling to various thrift stores where we made a few interesting finds and then an hour or so at Bob Endre's place where my parents and company had assebled for the weekly D&D game. It was so good to see them again. I talked to Bob and others about my plans for school and got advice about which certifications to pursue and where the industry's headed. At this moment, while I appreciate the advice, New Horizons premapped course of study is all I want to deal with at the moment.
Afterward, we returned to the hotel where my star got rather upset with me about having used her phone that morning and not returned it to her purse. We thusly missed getting together with people for dinner. *sigh* Forgetful puppy is no longer allowed to use the raccoon's things when she isn't around.
Both Friday and Saturday nights I went to bed early and missed out on hanging around with friends, talking and playing games. Friday night I was feeling strangely out of place, and Saturday I was just tired. I wish I had stayed up with my sweetie. I feel like I missed out on a great deal of what we were there for. Still, Congenial was a really good time.
I need to get back to doing work now I think. I actually wrote the preceding at work during lunch to save time today. I've done accounting, packed ebay stuff (that always takes an hour or two), and dealt with problems related to our last shipment as well as trying to track down the whopping eight dollar collection against me from a Kenosha hospital so I can submit my loan application. Still left for today; finish cleaning kitty-cat land (it was really gross; I did half yesterday and hopefully it's aired out a bit), do my taxes, and probably thence to bed. If I get that far.
I'm very busy, and I will only have less time once school starts. Still... *looks over at the raccoon on the other computer* I'm content with my life. Things are good. I hope things are good for all my loved ones and friends. *hugs*
