I should do a spreadsheet to keep track of all of Andrea and my ebay accounting. I started poking at Excel just a moment ago, but I'm far too tired.

My love and I just got back from a bar and grill sort of place (with an arcade and DDR! Woo!) where the crew of our imaginary Ren Faire pirate ship had planned a gathering. All in all I had a nice time seeing many people I didn't recognize and a few I did, [livejournal.com profile] crazycatladymel and [livejournal.com profile] thepiercedrose among them. I also made some interesting realizations. I've never really been in a bar environment before apart from once or twice with [livejournal.com profile] daveqat and Synicism. It was ok, albeit a little smoky (especially with the clove ciggarettes that made me disturbingly dizzy), but I was having a really hard time hearing people even at times when no one else seemed to be having any trouble. I think I have a very difficult time sorting speech out when there is a lot of background noise and I begin to wonder if I have a touch of CAPD (central auditory processing disorder), which, given that I am already aware of other issues relating to my personal neruology, would not terribly surprise me. It may even be related to the fact that, when I am deeply involved in something, I am sometimes entirely unable to comprehend what someone is saying to me, beyond the fact that 'someone is talking while I'm doing something and I want them to stop because it's annoying'.
I think that I'm going to start looking into what sort of options I might have as far as getting some kind of neurological evaluation. I remember some people on the face-blind list talking about recieving such services for free in return for the opportunity to work with someone with that problem (it seems to be fairly rare to find someone with non injury induced prosopagnosia), and I would love to have another tool and opportunity to learn more about myself. Ever since I came to understand that I had these problems in the first place, my life has made so much more sense, and I can only expect that to continue. As the clichè goes, "know thyself". Plus, it would be nice to have a formal diagnosis, for what that's worth, about what fun things my brain does. Andrea seems to think that the Asperger's Syndrome explanation may not be entirely correct. *shrugs*

We found a bunch of neat stuff at the thrift store today, including some vinyl (that's the LP kind) we picked up. We have the Doctor Zhivago soundtrack, the Rolling Stones 'Sticky Fingers' album (with the album jacket that has an up close view of a pair of jeans and has an actual zipper on the fly that opens up), and a Small Faces album with Itchykoo Park, one of my favorites from the '60s. Also found an LP of Andy Warhol and the Velvet Underground that may or may not go to ebay. I've never listened to the velvet underground and I'd like to see what they're like. All the vinyl was in really gorgeous shape too! It made me happy.

It grows late. To bed with the doggy. More next time...
