Last night's dream: It's dark out. I'm walking on a path through a forest. It's raining a bit and I can only see outlines of trees. I see a sign on my left that states that the path is on fire. I cover myself thoroughly with a sort of plastic tarp that just hangs loosely over me. I reach a T-junction and turn left. There are small fires right next to the path on each side as I proceed but the tarp protects me from the heat. I felt quite comfortable, blanketed under this thing. I felt that though I could see out, it was opaque from the outside.

Following the path, I come to the end of the forest and walk into a nature center. Andrea's mother is there and presents me with four books I had ordered but, for some reason, needed to have shipped to her house. One is a very nice hard-cover edition of E. L. Konigsburg's 'From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler', which is one that has appealed to me greatly since the first time I read it. I love good children's books. (I can't remember what the other three of them were exactly though I think they were all children's books.)

It was a much better night than Wednesday. All of Wednesday night through Thursday morning was spent sleeping in fits and starts as I seemed to be dealing with many, many individual entries in a database for Andrea's place of employment, performing actions on them that I knew could be done much faster if automated but for some reason I couldn't. There were times when I felt like I was entirely inside of the data structures, manipulating them. I did not get much sleep.

I am finally mostly over whatever creeping crud I've been afflicted with. Still not breathing at full efficiency (chest congestion from illnesses always lingers for me) but I'm feeling fairly good in general. Good enough to be a little depressed about how far behind on laundry and dishes I am again. I'll have to work on that when I get home.

In the meantime, since it's a Ford holiday today and I'm expecting perhaps a call per hour, I'm going to visit some test prep websites for the Microsoft 2K Server exam. One of my goals this weekend is getting myself ready for the test and, hopefully, making an appointment to take it next week. I need to start working on these things.

I talked to my brother for an hour or so last night. I wanted his advice on current electronic RPGs. I've been out of the loop on those for quite a long time. He recommended Star Ocean which I might rent this weekend to try out. I really need something I can get lost in again, like I used to with things like Final Fantasy or Ultima or, going back even further, the old SSI goldbox D&D games. Do any of my friends have recomendations for an old-school electronic gamer? I'd greatly apprciate anyone's opinions.

'Till later...
