I spent the whole trip home day-dreaming about getting the forge fired up. Imagining heating and shaping metal, the slightly giving impact of a hammer on a red-hot piece of bar stock, punching screw-holes into the flattened out back of a plant hanger-to-be with a punch that I just fabricated... I have to figure out how much it's going to cost me to get that propane tank filled up.

I took Kuma for a barefoot walk yesterday; west to the shore of Lake Michigan from our house, over the rocks lining the beach and down to the sandy shore to dip my (and Kuma's) paws, southward to the Kenosha sand dunes, east along the little bike path that travels through a crevasse formed by the trees and tall grass to the south and the cyclone fence bordering the water treatment plant to the north, a short way along the streets of my city, then up and over the stinging stones of the railroad bed, and then north along the streets and over the soft grass of an emptly lot on my shortcut back to the house behind the auto parts store. So many textures! It's been far too long since I took a long shoeless walk. I ended up with a minor cut on my foot, possibly from the railroad bed; my feet aren't as tough as they were a couple summers ago it appears. Kuma didn't seem to have any trouble, though he was pretty worn out the rest of the day. He's not used to that much exercise. I definately want to do more walking with him. It'll be good for both of us.

Tomorrow, my manager and I are ordering pizza from a place my family took me to back when I was six or seven years old and we lived in Illinois. We're going to work on some computer issues over lunch from Bill's Pub, where, as a young pup, I thought it was the best thing in the world that I got to eat the peanuts and throw the shells right on the floor! I'm also planning to try to get in early tomorrow to work on some other issues I have in my queue. I feel strangely professional at this job, which is a really odd thing for me. Not necessarily a bad one, I just hope it doesn't rub off unduly onto the rest of my life.

Hungy hungry hungry! Andrea almost has food done. She's been cooking for me nearly every weekday and I want her to know that it is greatly appreciated.
