(no subject)
Jun. 30th, 2005 07:03 pmYesterday and today, one of the people from our Port Townsend, Washington office was in Libertyville. He's the person who manages backup jobs for our servers, so he was in poking at that sort of stuff in Chicago and Libertyville. I've talked to him a couple times on the phone and was looking forward to meeting him 'cause he sounded kinda quiet and geeky.
Not only is he quiet and geeky, but I think he's fen too. The subject of ren faires came up and he asked me whether I was actually doing ren faire, or whether I meant SCA. This set off serious gamedar. *smiles* He's about my age, kinda chubby, with reddish hair, and is very cute and vaguely teddy-bear like. I've noted in the past that I often find people attractive simply because of long hair, that my recognition circuits and my attraction circuits are rather intermingled, so maybe it's just because he has red hair, but I kept thinking about how cute he was.
Not only did I like him, but we were talking about networking at one point since he does most or all of the router configuration for us. I was telling him about wanting an old Cisco router to work on at home and he walked over to a shelf, took one down, and said 'Here, take this one.' So I now have a Cisco 2611 router with a T1 CSU/DSU module (not that I'll have access to a T1 line any time soon) to play with. WOOHOO! I've been wishing for one of these to work with for the better part of a year!
So, do any of my readers want to come by and help me configure this thing as a router on a stick for my cable connection? Posi, have you ever worked with Cisco?
*bounce* I'm excited far beyond rationality by this!
