Sep. 20th, 2005 08:09 pmI started to install the brake pads I bought over the weekend and hit a snag. The existing pads had a sort of metal retaining clip on them whereas the new ones only had mounting points for the clip and no actual clip. Stopping myself moments before beginning to drill out the rivets holding the clips to the old pads so I could remove the clips and put them on the new pads, I realized that, maybe the best course of action would be to go back to Advance and buy new clips.
It turned out that they do not sell those clips seperately, but it would appear that the problem was simply having the wrong brake pads. The correct ones, which were the four wheel drive model, were exactly the same as the two wheel drive pads except for the addition of the clip. On the two wheel drive, it's a separate part. Weird.
But the weirdest part was finding out that I have a two wheel drive truck with four wheel drive brakes. I'll have to keep that in mind next time I have to buy them. And now, my light having run out for the day, I will postpone the work 'till Thursday. The pads are pretty thin, but they'll get by for another couple days and
imandunewen will be here tomorrow. Yay!
Soon though, very soon, I need to buy a replacement windsheild wiper assembly. I was having trouble this morning; the driver side mount is stripped out and the dew on the glass was swiftly condensing to frost as I drove. Not a good thing.
Now, to write more for the interests meme. I love being able to lay in bed with the fan on me and relax as I type.
