Oct. 24th, 2005 10:55 pmI will apparently not be reading my email until I either:
A] Rebuild the Windows installation on my laptop which appears to have eaten itself quite effectively.
B] Set up Pegasus mail on another machine to connect to my IMAP server.
Losing the laptop isn't a big deal; I purposefully have not put anything irreplacble on there; that's why I went to IMAP over POP3 in the first place. It's just annoying in that I've lost all my custom mail filtering rules and probably the address book that I haven't backed up yet. *sigh* If I don't notice that you sent me email or replied to a Livejournal entry, you'll understand why.
I have some stuff to express about the weekend, but it's getting too late. I hope it's still fresh in my mind tomorrow. It'll give me something to think about while I rebuild my laptop, Dog-sizeddog.
Several tech news bulleteins:
Oh, by the way, as soon as I figure out how to post them without breaking friends pages, I'll have some pictures to post from my outing with Andrea in Chicago. Watch this space...

Several tech news bulleteins:
- I've been playing with connecting Outlook 2003 on my server at work to the IMAP accounts on my home server, but it's been causing some issues with mail duplication that I need to work out.
- I can now VNC into my server at home so I can do things like restart the mail server which seems to have crashed in a minor power outage today.
- While at
posicat's place last night, I connected to my server via VNC and tracked down the reason that Apache was not saving any log files. It was a stupid little fix, I just hadn't had any time to look at it. Now I can get a log analyzer and figure out where Andrea's ebay pictures are getting the most referrels from. Maybe she can streamline her marketing and make it more efficient. By the way, any recommendations on a log analyzer for Apache that runs on Windows? (No, my server is not running linux. Yes, I am properly chagrined.)
- Got my Pentium III Xeon 1Ghz machine up and running with the copy of Windows Server 2003 Enterprise that I got for free for taking one of my classes. The external SCSI array is still down, but I managed to free up an IDE hard drive in a system reconfiguration a couple months ago. I've finally had time to make use of it. Hopefully I will soon be able to experiment with setting up a VPN server in my home network, not to mention setting up a domain controller and other fun stuff. Maybe once that's done, I can even find time to think about trying to set up my Cisco 2600 in front of my Netgear router, putting the VPN/web/email server between the two, and creating a real demilitarized zone. But I wouldn't hold your breath.
