Dec. 15th, 2005 08:33 pmThere was a free holidy-type catered luncheon thingy at work today. There were some rolls (quite good), some real from-scratch mashed potatoes (also pretty good with some gravy), turkey (a touch dry but not bad), and desserts. I only dashed down long enough to chow down and enter the raffle before heading back to my little Network Support hole. After an hour or so though, I was called back to claim the prize that I had won!
It turned out to be a Kodak EasyShare C310 digital camera. 4 megapixel point-and-shoot model with no optical zoom or manual controls. Not a bad little party camera, though not nearly as good as the one my mate and I already have. I figured I'd regift it to someone on my Christmas list. Then I found out that one of the other people in Network Support won an item too! He ended up with a DVD player. The Cyberhome DVD 300/S to be exact. Even better, while he was rather envious of the digital camera (he didn't have one), I was rather envious of the DVD player (I'd been looking for one of those, along with a small TV, that I can keep on a wheeled card in a bedroom closet so that Moira and I can watch, err, things, upstairs in bed.) So, after a quick consultation with my raccoon-girl, we made a trade. I'm excited! It's a progressive scan model with component video output (not that I have anything that can take advantage of it yet) and, even better, I've already found the necessary hack to make it regionless. If I ever have enough money to think about importing Japanese animé *snort* I'll be all set.
Moira is sick today. I brought her chinese food and 7-up to make her feel better. If you happen to talk to her, please extend your wishes for her speedy recovery. a sick raccoon is an unhappy raccoon.
Now I'm going to try to finally play some DDR. With luck, I won't collapse into a wheezing mass of puppy-dog. I am so very out of shape compared to a couple years ago.
