Please forgive me for not responding to people's posts today, or for writing much of anything myself.

Toward the end of faire, my wrists started hurting. By the time we left, they were hurting a lot. While we were at the Chinese buffet, they got to the point where it was difficult for me to do things like, say, pick up a glass of water. They've been that bad before. Once in a while when I was working for Ford, I was doing enough typing that, when I came home at the end of the day, I would have to rest a few hours before I could do much of anything with my hands. Getting an ergonomic keyboard helped that and things got better, though I have the occasion bit of pain.

I don't know what caused it yesterday; I wasn't doing anything strenuous or repetitive with my hands. But as we said goodbyes in the parking lot of the buffet, I was actualy in tears from the pain and it was worse than it ever was at Ford.

Andrea got me home and put me in bed with an icepack under each wrist, but it wasn't helping much, and I couldn't move my hands or arms without excruciating pain in up through my forearms. Finally, she suggested I take one of her Vicodin pills. In a decision that those who know my attitude toward such things will know to be indicative of just how much pain I was in, I actually did. It didn't seem to help much though; they're pretty old.

Finally I asked her to take me to the walk-in clinic/ER at the local hospital. It took a while to get both of us dressed, into the car, and to the building, and by the time we got there about half an hour later, it seemed like the pain might finally be receding. From when the severe pain started at the buffet at 10:00 to arriving at the hospital at one in the morning, it had been about three hours.

Not wanting to make an unnecessary ER visit and deal with wondering whether my insurance will cover it, she suggested we go to a drug store and get some strong anti-inflammatories and see how it goes.

Having done so and taken one, I found that pain was gradually reduced enough for me to sleep. It's even better this morning, though I'm still having trouble. I took another anti-inflammatory and got my ergo keyboard to plug into my laptop so I can type this and let people know what's up. I'm thinking that I probably need to make a doctor's appointment and have my wrists looked at. I haven't done so in the past either because I haven't had insurance, haven't had money, or a combination of the both. It's beginning to seem rather necessary at this point though.

I really wanted to write more about faire and things yesterday, but that might not happen today. I probably shouldn't be writing even this, but I'm stubborn that way. I could even break out my microphone and dictate entries using the voice to text program I installed on my laptop, but in addition to the rest of the fun yesterday, I seem to have caught whatever Andrea had, and my throat is at the 'not terrible, but annoyingly sore' level and I'm trying to avoid talking.

I guess that's about all there is to say at the moment, and I should really probably put this keyboard down. Thank you all who made yesterday so fantastic; I will try to appropriately acknowledge you here when I'm feeling more up to writing! And thank you Moira, for being so wonderfully supportive and caring to me while I was having trouble last night. You are so wonderful to me. I would have been in trouble without you there to open doors, buckle my seatbelt, drive, and everything else I needed.
