A very happy remembrance of our wedding day to the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] wooisme. Two years ago today we were barefoot on the grounds of the Silverleaf Renaissance faire, family and friends gathered 'round, as we pledged our devotion to each other.

I may have to dig up our wedding vows and post them here. I particularly liked that part about MapQuest. *smiles*

I love you my star. Thank you for these three years, and for the many more to come. I am lucky beyond my ability to express to be yours.

I'd like to write a recap of faire on saturday and the weekend in general. It's kind of hard when I'm being distracted by the fact that someone sandpapered my throat last night before filling my nose with some sort of slime. *grumps* There's definitely no way I can take any sick days either. With our help desk person in the Chicago office on vacation this week, we are stupidly overworked. But I will talk about happier things.

Saturday was fantastic even though a few people who were going to come didn't end up being able to make it. Most of the morning was spend wandering about with [livejournal.com profile] wooisme, [livejournal.com profile] polymorphism, my previous co-worker M, and a friend of his. M was brand new to faire and seemed to really enjoy it. Though we did sit and watch the joust, we spent most of the time wandering about, window shopping, and talking. Hopefully I didn't bore them too much.

I stopped to say hi to my friend Amy who runs The Maiden Voyage and found myself with an unexpected free fish and chips that I slathered with malt vinegar. Yummy! She's wonderful; I need to remind myself to ask her if she's involved with any theatre outside of Carthage College (she's head of the costume department there), perhaps at the Sixth Street Theatre in Racine. I ran lights for her there once, and I'd love to work with her again on something.

After a time, I think around noon or so though I don't have a very good time sense at faire, our group (which now included [livejournal.com profile] tincrash who had joined us along the way), encountered the girl I've been having lots of fun LJ-flirting with, and who I, to my chagrin, completely failed to recognize once I met her in person again: [livejournal.com profile] megmoves. Fortunately, she was understanding. She and her friend crap...uh...Becky...er...crap; Becky Crap, joined us in our wanderings. Though I can't remember her face either, I at least have a name that I won't forget. *giggles*

To avoid the risk of becoming monotonous, I'll mention the highlights of the day, in what my memory is telling me is chronological order:

*Andrea and I got to talk to Meg and Danni ([livejournal.com profile] polymorphism) and I got to know them both a little better: a trend that I certainly hope will continue!

*I met a friend of Meg's who is into geocacheing and urban exploration. This is quite nifty; one of the things that kept me doing from doing more of such things is not having anyone to do them with.

*A hands-on (literally) demonstration of proper courtly manner. I will admit that I get a thrill out of dropping to one knee to beg the touch of a fair lady's hand to mine. That was much fun indeed, and not just because of the pretty girl whose hand it was that I was holding *giggles* I do believe I'm going to put some work into making that motion, along with the bow, a bit more fluid.

*I wrote last weekend about a certain hair braider who I wanted to talk to. I probably wasn't going to end up doing so, but as the group of us walked by the booth, he called out to me; "Sir! My hands were made for you!" "Yes, they were!" Responded Moira as she pulled me over to him. What followed was a fantastic time spent sitting on a soft bench with my eyes closed, listening to the sounds of faire around me, while one of the most gorgeous men I've seen at Bristol played with my hair for a good ten minutes or so. *happy sigh*

We exchanged a couple of flirtatious comments, him taking every opportunity, while working his magic on my hair, to brush the soft underside of my earlobes, or the side of my face. *mrrr* Oh, did I mention that he sang too? And well! He sang, from time to time, little
verses, whose words I can't remember, in a delicious baritone.

Moira said afterword that she felt as though she'd bought me the services of a courtesan; and perhaps she had. *grins* In any case, I do believe that, on one of the weekends that he's there again, I'll go by the booth and ask for Fingers.

*Lounging on the soft ground at the drum jam as the oppressive heat began to finally recede for the evening. I had my mate and a new friend near me, while I watched another new friend get lost in the spirit of the music. It was a wonderful way to wind down the faire

*Talking for a couple hours with the group of us who went out for Chinese buffet after the inhabitants of the shire had bedded down for the night.

From there, well, things were not quite as good, as those who read about my near trip to the ER will already know. That still wasn't enough to take the shine from the day. I want to thank each one of you who made Saturday such a wonderful and memorable break from reality. You are all very much appreciated.

Well, as I noted, tonight is the anniversary of my wedding to my dear raccoon. I have yet more to write about, but for the time being, I'm going to stop and spend some time with my love. We have a little more animé to watch, and another of so many evenings more to come to spend together. 'Till next time....
