Oct. 23rd, 2006 04:51 pmAndrea and I went to a bookstore this weekend; these are dangerous places. I bought a copy of Ham Radio for Dummies. It's something I've wanted to try for years. I read through most of the contents last night and this morning and, having been inspired, used my lunch to track down a program that plays audio of the corresponding morse code as you type. I really think that there should be more focus on learning solutions that integrate learning with everyday activities that way; it just seems like such an intuitive, low effort way to do things!
My mate's only response to me telling her about my new software toy was "*sigh*". I'm so very lucky that she puts up with me.
That's not my only new software toy though. I also bought an eight disc suite of Japanese instructional material. Four discs of lessons, three discs of audio content, and one disc with a Japanese dictionary/translation program. I'm going to have to start working on that too. There's just too much stuff I want to learn!
By the way
samiitiger, if you'd like copies of those discs, just let me know. I can probably fit all of the software on one DVD, and I can burn audio format copies of the others for you. Maybe I can get them to you this weekend!
More to say, little time to say it. I'm about to leave work to head home, where I will begin cleaning up for the carpet people. I do intend to find some time to get on Second Life and help
wooisme get a character created for herself though. There are never enough virtual raccoon girls in the world. Plus, I had a really fun time with people online Saturday night and want to figure out how to get my avatar looking less human....
'Till later!
