Jan. 16th, 2007 09:00 pmThe Kenosha news has just informed me, via a fascinating, well-researched, and in-depth look at the intricacies of our local ecosystem entitled "Lakefront Frolic", that foxes are not dangerous. I thought that news of this magnitude was worth sharing with my readership. Allow me to quote from the article in question:
"Despite the fact that they aren't often seen, foxes are prevalent throughout Kenosha and North America, normally in wooded areas or urban parks." (I guess that would explain why I don't often see them lounging on the post office steps, or prowling around my kitchen door [better not let 'em in]. Who knew?) But here's the part that needs to be shared with the public: "No need to run for your life if you see them. (Emphasis is mine, though well-warranted.) Foxes normally live off of (phrasing is original) smaller mammals, birds, insects, orange peels (but why not apple peels, or even kiwi-fruit peels? We are so far from knowing the true nature of this mysterious animal!), and other garbage left behind by humans."
Did you hear that
serinthia? If you should happen to see a fox, there is no need to run for your life! Just give him an orange peel or some garbage or something.
This has been a public service announcement.
