Off the hook!

Is it wrong that I'm overjoyed that, only a short while after I lost mine, and for only the second time (including my own) in the spam of my employment with Allscripts, an employee has lost their laptop? I don't feel quite so singled out anymore....

I've been saying that I want to do more photography and research of a journalistic variety; inspired by a response I just left to mocha_mephooki in a similar vein (about the Story Corps project), I took one of my first big steps toward that today.

Yesterday, serinthia sent me a link to an article in the Kenosha News about the Roosevelt Theatre and the raze or repair order that's been issued for it. I just left a voice mail for the reporter who wrote the article explaining that I'm an amateur photographer who'd like to contact the owners or the community group mentioned in the article to ask about photographing the interior of the building. I'm still jittery from the adrenalin of having picked up the phone and made the call; I hate that infernal device.

Wish me luck! Once I manage to schedule something, I'm going to see if I can borrow posicat's little tape recorder too so I can record what the people involved have to say about the building's history. *bounce* This is exciting!

Please come to my house on Sunday this weekend for the techswap. I have some stuff that needs to go away. There are a very few things in this lot that I will keep if no one wants them, but the vast majority is going to get scrapped if no one wants it. Wanna know if I have something? Leave a comment. And don't forget, posicat and others are bringing stuff to share and enjoy as well.

sabrinageek, I still have an Amiga keyboard and an external floppy drive too. Should I hang on to these for you? I would imagine that netrage could use them too if you don't need them.
