Nov. 16th, 2007 01:11 pmI was going to write an entry about my birthday, but work exploded so horrendously that I didn't get a chance to. We still have fallout from the problem yesterday (my company neglected to renew the lease on our primary domain; the result was on par with the Ghostbusters definition of 'bad'), but It's finally quieting down a bit. Right now, I'm typing instead of listening to the weekly company department meeting that my headset is injecting into my left ear.
So. Birthday. It was good. Nobody at work noticed, and I didn't say anything about it, so that's ok. Wedensday is our standing dinner with my parents night, so we got together with them after I got home. To my surprise, they made pizza for me! They still remember what I eat, and my eating habits have remained fairly similar, despite my stay in Detroit where Andrea introduced me to things like hummus and shish-ta-wook.
After the pizza came homemade brownies; one pan of chewy fudge ones, and one pan of dark chocolate. Yum!! I so love my parents! They (my parents) got me a very mushy card that deeply touched me, and brother1, brother1's girlfriend, and brother two got me a very silly card that involved a dog peeing on the shoe of a blithely unaware fellow reading a newspaper next to a fire-hydrant. I love my brothers too.
My parents found a wonderful book of architectural photographs of theatres, both modern and historical, from all over the world. Such neat stuff!!
On the subject of presents, Andrea gave me a few neat little things too; a tube of the really strong mint lip-balm that I like a lot, along with a tube of similar but medicated stuff for when my lips get bad in the winter ('cause they usually do). She also got me a wonderfully nice-smelling candle. I love smelly candles! Thank you sweetie!
And, to put the icing on the metaphorical cake, the remote shutter release cord for my camera showed up that day while I was at work; it was the last day that it could have shown up in order for me to have it at the con. That, together with the 18% gray cards that I ran out at lunch to buy from Gurnee Mills, will make me look unprecedentedly dorky while standing around the con photographing the dance and the fursuit parade, so I'm quite excited about that too! *giggles*
Today, despite the hellishness of remnant issues here at work, has been fantastic. On the one hand, I have the anticipation of getting the hell out of here in -checking my clock- two and a half hours now, and on the other hand, I just visited
posicat's place for a greatlunch of homemade pizza! I have some really wonderful friends!
Two and a half more hours. I can do it....
