Jan. 3rd, 2008 08:33 amI think the last time I was as sick as I got yesterday afternoon was when I had mono a month or so ago. In fact, though this was shorter lived (I'm feeling better enough to be at work now), it may have been worse.
I felt mostly fine when I woke up yesterday morning, though my stomach was just a little unsettled. Not long after getting to work though, I found that I was having to make frequent trips to the bathroom.

On my last trip to the bathroom, I lost my glasses somehwere. I'm pretty sure I had them on when I went. When I got up from the toilet, I realized I couldn't see anything and started looking around for them. Nothing. I even asked
serinthia and my team lead to help me find them, but none of us could locate them anywhere. The receptionist says no one turned them in to her. At this point, I'm honestly leaning toward the possiblity that they fell in the toilet and I was too out of it to notice. I may have flushed them.
I decided that I wasn't up to staying at work and, since I'd lost my glasses and couldn't drive, Serin offered to take me home. I spent the rest of the day, and up through this morning when I finally woke up around six-thirty, alternately in bed under three or four blankets and planted in the bathroom, either on the toilet or on the floor. It was bad.
Serin dropped me off at my mom's (
farm_cat) house. She happened to be home sick too (chest cold) and she offered to bring me out to get new glasses. By the time I got home though, I just wasn't up to going out. She gave me a cup of 7-up and it took both hands to hold on to it well enough to drink. She ended up just taking me home so I could collapse.
Andrea was kind enough to buy me some Sierra Mist, which was the only think I managed to drink. She even made her wonderful corn soup for me, but I couldn't quite manage to eat more than a couple spoonfuls of it. My guts just were not willing to accept any more matter than was in them already. The backrub she gave me was nice though.
Anyway, I'm still not feeling a hundred percent, but I managed to get up and go to work today, and am even toying with the idea of eating lunch, as I'm feeling a bit hungry. Andrea, on the other hand, seems to have what I had and is home in bed under three or four sets of blankets right now. I feel so bad for her, but there probably isn't much I can do.
For my part, I guess I'm mostly over it. I'll just have to go out this weekend to get glasses to replace the ones that I'm wearing now. Fortunately I had the ones from two pairs ago sitting on one of my computer room plushies. The frame is broken and one lens is sewn on to the frame, but they'll do.
