Jan. 30th, 2008 09:28 amThe top bidder on my lot of two Thinkpads I have posted right now is Bladder_control_device. I am highly amused.
I left on time yesterday. The virus died down quickly after the initial influx of calls. Seems that it's handily caught and cleaned by our antivirus software, as long as it's up to date.
I found an off-brand (Focal) camera flash at Goodwill yesterday. After poring through info online though, I found that the 20D I have is probably only supposed to use flashes with a trigger voltage of 6v or less, and my multimeter indicates that the one I picked up has 9v of trigger voltage. Oh well- I guess it's off to Ebay with it.
I also, finally, have a rolling chair for my computer room. It's relatively comfortable and, my most important criteria when buying thrift store furniture, it does not seem to be in imminent danger of falling apart. I'm going to remove the arms, after which it should be nicely servicable. The other chair up there, which is in danger of falling apart, is probably going to go on the curb
I dropped off two boxes worth of tailings from our basement mining effort at the thrift store too. It may sound silly, but I get nervous doing things like that for the first time; I think I won't know how to do it right and embarass myself. It was easy enough though; walk up with a box and hand it off.
As much as I want to immerse myself in Ultima 5: Lazarus (and I really do), I didn't get to it yesterday. But that's ok. I had such a nice time just keeping company with my mate, sorting through old belongings, and making progress on the house, that I spend the whole of my free time that evening in those pursuits. I have no complaints at all.
I'm so very cold today. The first pump I stopped at to get gas kept shutting itself off as if the tank-is-full sensor was tripping. Maybe the cold was causing a problem. My hands were entirely numb after just a minute or two of wrestling with it. The only reason I stopped again at another pump was that the cost/benefit analysis of that versus running out of gas and having to push the truck in this weather was pretty conclusive. I really need to get the heater fan fixed. I'm going to push through the rest of the winter until it's warm enough to do it myself and save a hundred bucks or so, but as soon as it's warm enough to do it, I'm not going to put it off like I did this fall.
