Games?

I hadn't had a chance to play boardgames with people in a long time until [livejournal.com profile] thecoddess' and [livejournal.com profile] zman923's party. I realized, over a game of Ticket to Ride (which I just might end up buying 'cause it was lots of fun!) that I really miss them.

So, I brought my copy of Iron Dragon back from my parents' house with the hope that I might find some people to play with. This week is pretty full with the trip coming up this weekend, but I'd really like to play something interesting with people. Iron Dragon or Empire Builder (if I can find my copy) would be lots of fun; something about actually drawing train tracks on the board really engages my brain. But other things might work too. I suggest the scheduling as a tentative possibility as we see what my, and other people's, plans are.

My weekdays are pretty full for the most part, but if we plan ahead for a weekend day, that would probably work for me. Would anyone like to do board games on 7th, 8th, or 9th of March? Maybe we could have lunch or dinner too.

In other news, though I have a frog the size of a football in my throat, I am otherwise unaffected by the plague that's been going around the area. Unfortunately, my mate has not been so lucky. Offer her sympathy and well-wishes, would you? She is home today, and probably in bed.

Today has been non-stop since I got to work with the small exception of an hour off at 2 to go to lunch. Well, more precisely, to buy food from Aldi for lunches for the rest of the week, and to take pictures of the telescopes at Goodwill to send to [livejournal.com profile] awfulhorrid. I can't wait to get out of here and drive for an hour plus through the upcoming blizzard to get home where my dear raccoon is probably still failing to retain anything she eats, so I'm getting her some Ginger Ale on the way home. Vernor's, of course; she's a Michigan girl.

At least my foot pedal showed up today. I'm still considerably slower when typing using it; time will tell if I'll get up to speed. I think it will, after some practice, end up being useful. Like the Rock Band pedal though, I very much want to take it apart and put a stronger spring in it. I'm scared that I'll end up breaking it.

Springs. That reminds me of the great little party we went to at [livejournal.com profile] polymorphism's brother's place where we sat around and watched a bunch of Mystery Science Theatre 3000 shorts. And played a round of Apples to Apples. That was good. I miss Dani since she moved to Nebraska.

I have played enough Rock Band that the left side of my right thumb is tender from holding a drum stick and it causes a little twinge when I press the space bar. Ah, how we suffer for our pseudo-arts....

[livejournal.com profile] farm_cat plays a mean bass. And wow do I get into the drum part on Ballroom Blitz!
