Someone just asked me, in a thank-you email that was a response to my pointing out an obvious error in what he was doing that was making it not work, where I would be without user error.

I would really love to answer that question. I'd probably get fired for doing it, but I'd really love to answer that question.

Okay, yesterday and today have been pretty brutal. I'm going to work at remaining calm and peaceful until the end of the day. I will think of Rock Band. Yeah.

There's good stuff happening too though. And now that things are calming down a little bit here, I can remember them!

At three years, I'm the second most senior person in my department. I'd have another eight or so to go to be on top and I doubt I'm going to be here quite that long (and my team lead would probably still be here anyway) so I'm not going to get on top of that stack, but I'm quite happy with that. It means that, though I have to answer questions from the rest of the help desk folks, my job should at least be pretty secure. I hope.

The scale says I'm down to 219 pounds today. That's the first time I've been under 220 in about four years, not including having lost about ten pounds in a week and a half when I was really sick with mono a couple months ago. I'm not obsessed with the figure by any means, but it's kind of cool that following the basic precepts of The Hacker's Diet has borne fruit. I'm hoping that I'll be able to wear the black, gothy, modern kilt-like garment that Andrea mail-ordered from England for me as a present a while back but has always been just a little too small. I'd forgotten about it 'till I found it cleaning the basement this weekend, but I like it a lot.

I also am looking forward to warmer temperatures making it easier to excercise via bicyle rides or climbing around abandoned buildings.

I only have to work two more days (plus this one) this week.

I'm spending the weekend at a water park with loved ones.

The first lunch (I eat two; one at 11 and one at 3) was a really yummy chimichanga! (Ok, I'm stretching here.)

Ooh! Another good point for today! Our voice mail system is down, which means that our phone system auto-attendant is down, which means that anyone trying to call my office to get to the help desk is going to get an endless ring signal.

That means that people aren't able to call the help desk! From my vantage point, that's pretty cool.

Of course, that also means that the red spinning police-car light we have at the desk is turned on to let people coming to the door know that we are aware of a major issue. Said light is a continual distraction as I keep seeing it out of the corner of my eye. Can't have everything I suppose.
