Mar. 2nd, 2008 08:21 amI'm sure that much more commentary and many more pictures will be posted as I get the chance, but below are the results from a camera experiment at the water park. Clad only in swim trunks, I followed my family down to the so-named Bay of Dreams with camera 'round my neck, tripod slung on my back, and camera bag on my shoulder. It was neat; no one seemed to pay any attention to me as I wandered about the grounds, full of scantily clad members of both genders, with blatantly obvious camera equipment. It seems that as long as you make no effort to seem to be sneaky about anything, and you have a bunch of equipment and seem to know what you're doing, everyone assumes you're ok. I will have to keep that in mind.
I set up the tripod at the base of one of the water slide splash-down pools, hung the camera bag from the hook at the bottom, plugged in my remote release cable, and played with settings while my brother and dad took a few test runs down the chute. Finally, I, with camera in motor drive mode and film speed set to 800 to freeze the action, was ready. Below is the result of one of my brother's runs. (You'll have to wait for it to fully load in, but this is a video that I made by animating successive camera frames.)

That was so cool to look at ex post facto and see how it turned out! I have another set of pictures of Tim, and one of my dad, both sans inner tube, to make videos out of too. I'm definitely going to do that on the furry Noah's Ark trip this year!
We're going to be packing up and leaving in a little bit here. We'll probably hit a few more bookstores in Madison on the way home, and possibly drop in to see a Mephooki as well. More will be written about Friday's and Saturday's adventure (
akreaveter and I had a great time at Wizard's Quest! later on.
