I'm going to write about the past weekend when I have a little downtime. Until then, here are a couple of neat links.

moiracoon sent me this one about Kirkbride buildings. If you have an image in your mind of a stereotypical, eerie, imposting, even gothic, mental health ward; an asylum straight from the writings of H.P. Lovecraft, you have an image of a Kirkbride building. I've always wanted to see one of these. Maybe a road trip sometime this summer or fall.

And that reminded of something I came upon in a friend of a friend's journal. When the Willard Psychiatric Center closed down in 1995, after it's hundred and twenty-six year run, hundreds of suitcases, trunks, bags, boxes, and other containers that were taken from it's patients were left in the attic of one lonely and emptied building. Here are the stories of just a few of those repositories, and the stories of the lives that their owners lead before finding themselves committed to this home for fractured souls and broken treatments for thirty, forty, fifty years, or even longer.

The information about Willard comes from a book published just this year. I can only guess at how hard a read this will be (just the excerpts nearly move me to tears), but I want a copy.

Ok; I have finished going through my list of network devices on my company's network to configure for Kiwi tools so I can hopefully start the actual configuration process. Whee!

I did some laundry, took out garbage, and organized our garb from the weekend. Yay!

I ate dinner and then emptied the freezer so we can defrost the fridge so it's working by the time Custardfairy and Jojomojo show up. Woo-hoo!

Also, I have finally copied over the pictures from faire this weekend and I have some really good ones. daveqat and jimcyl, I'll get you copies of the ones with you soon! rileybear67, I have one of you that I just love completely and totally. I'd like to print it out and put it on my desk. I'll send you a copy after work tomorrow after I resize it and sharpen it a little bit. I have some good ones of D and Sebastian too!

I also found all the fireworks pictures I took on the fourth. I want to share them. I'd also like to post a few pictures from faire with my weekend recap. Apparently, I'm going to have to spend a little time and set up a Flickr account. That is, unless someone wants to help me get Apache running on my NSLU2; that would rock!

Note to self for the morning: remember to bring the food that you bought to eat for lunch, and money to give serinthia for buying you pizza 'cause you forgot to do it yesterday. D'oh!
